Rufus Varghese

Rufus Varghese is a composer/producer who has engineered a release considered for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album at the 62nd Grammy Awards. He has been composing and producing since 2008, working on the recording, mixing, and mastering of numerous tracks by both local and international artists. He has been involved in a number of game-compositions ranging from the mobile version of Restaurant-Rush and various other app-based games to projects from ChorusGames.inc and the MOE-supported ePraxis. 

Vinod Dass

Vinod is a musician and audio engineer with a degree from JMC Academy in Melbourne. He has worked on sound design and mixing for a short film that was selected for film festivals in Melbourne, Iran, Mexico, and New York. He is also a passionate musician who has played at festivals and opened for major acts such as Hariharan, Immolation (NYC), Venom Inc (UK), The Exploited (UK).

1. What level of experience do I need to join these programmes?

You don’t need any formal background in music or audio to get started. As long as you have curiosity and a genuine interest in creating or understanding sound, you’ll be able to follow the lessons and build your skills step by step. 

2. Are the classes more theory-based or hands-on?

Both! In our music courses at Orita Sinclair College, students study a range of subjects designed to provide a well-rounded education in music.The curriculum includes music theory, audio engineering, sound design, digital audio workstations (DAWs), mixing and mastering, and music business.

Students also gain hands-on experience through projects and studio work, ensuring they are well-prepared for various roles in the music industry. 

3. What software or tools will I learn during the course?

In Orita Sinclair, we conduct your studies with Logic Pro or Ableton Live Standard. 

4. Do I need to bring my own equipment?

An earphones/headphone and a laptop and you are good to go!

5. What career paths can I pursue after graduating?
